AMO (1.2358) too steel has high toughness & high resistance to wear, often used in plastics processing. It is a medium alloyed cold work tool steel that is usually supplied hardened & tempered. It has high hardening capacity, through hardenability, excellent surface hardenability, good weldability & good dimensional stability after hardening & tempering
Typical applications:
AMO is typically used for cold work & moulds for plastics, cutting inserts for segmented tools, punching & stamping tools, shear knives, plastic moulds & cutting tools.
AKM Tip:
Whilst AMO is an excellent next generation tool steel, the metallurgy of tool steels is complex, so if you need any help determining the best steel for a given application, please get in touch with details of your intended usage
